Peer Support for Parents/Grandparents and Caregivers

Under the direction of the Calgary Fetal Alcohol Network (CFAN), the Parent Support Association offers support groups for parents/grandparents and other caregivers of children and youth affected by exposure to alcohol at birth.  Participants meet weekly to share concerns, information and strategies.

Benefits of Peer Support

FASD peer support groups are based on the Parent Support Association Peer Support Model.  Benefits of joining a peer support group:

  • A positive environment shared with others who have had similar experiences and understand your situation
  • Provides a nonjudgmental setting where you can both receive and give support
  • A place to learn about parenting strategies and coping skills that are specific to your situation
  • Encouragement and hope

If you are a birth mom, foster parent or adoptive parent in need of support, call the FASD peer support intake line at the PSA office.
