If you feel challenged in your parenting, you are not alone!
For 30 years, the Parent Support Association of Calgary has provided an action, results-based parenting program to help parents develop stronger relationships with their teens. PSA directly supports parents which indirectly affects positive change within their youth. We make the case that, when parents learn how to change their approach to conflict with their teen, their relationships are improved, their home life is more peaceful, and they achieve a better life balance.
The teen years are about self-discovery, independence and taking risks. When we feel that our youth are making poor decisions and/or are involved in activities we don't support, our reaction to try and control the situation can often make it worse. "I have learned how to support my daughter in her journey to adulthood rather than control that journey through my expectations". PSA Parent
The PSA program focuses on establishing mutual respect, taking responsibility and putting issues in perspective. When parents adapt this philosophy, they begin to feel less overwhelmed, less angry, less exhausted and more hopeful for their teen's future. "We have derived so much benefit that in four months our situation has stabilized and family living has once again become pleasant. Our teenager is also speaking praises of our parent support group".
